Peter Stone - career history
Peter Stone is an independent business and management consultant with a
wide range of experience working with both companies and NGOs. His areas of
expertise include: governance and management development; strategic planning;
change and project management; and chairing and facilitation.
He has also worked as Chief Operating Officer of the Aegis Trust, an
international NGO working in the field of genocide research and prevention
across three continents. Within a six month period he revised all staffing and
operational systems and dramatically increased both the turnover of the
organisation and the security of its finances.
From 2000 to 2003 he worked as Director of Fundraising for the Royal
Society for Nature Conservation (the umbrella body of The Wildlife Trusts) where
he was responsible for all fundraising, marketing, press and communications
functions for this leading NGO. In this role he was responsible for the
generation of over £2m+ p.a. and the development of a much higher level of
public awareness for the organisation.
From 1994 to 2000 he worked as Chief Executive of the Nottinghamshire
Wildlife Trust where he was responsible for the turnaround of this charity into
a major player in the region as well as the development of an award winning £2m
headquarters facility. Prior to this, as Director of Marketing and Customer
Services for the Woodland Trust, a leading national charity, he was responsible
for the generation of over £4m+ p.a. and the management of relations with over
320,000 supporters. This was combined with an overall increase in income of 300%
in five years and an increase in supporter numbers of 100% in a four year
period.
He
has worked for twenty years in the fields of management turnarounds and
specialises in fast and accurate diagnosis of the need for change within
organisations and the delivery of that change.
