Richard McLaughlin - career history
Richard McLaughlin is an independent business
consultant with a wide portfolio of successful projects. His expertise covers business transformation and organisational
change,
intellectual capital appraisal, strategy facilitation, management and finance of large projects, and
Public/Private Partnerships. He has created and delivered MBA electives at City University Business School.
From 1983 to 1992, he was an executive board
director of George Wimpey, latterly responsible for a division of specialist
businesses and numerous joint ventures. From 1974 to 1983, he held technical and management positions with BP, working on
developments in the North Sea. Before that, he worked with
consulting engineers on hydro-electric projects.
He is a chartered engineer and has an MA from
Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and an MSc from Leeds University. He is an
associate member of the Institute of Management Consultancy.
In 1988 he attended the Cabinet Office Top
Management Programme. He is an officer in the Engineer & Logistic Staff
Corps (TA), a unit which advises the Ministry of Defence. He
chairs
a panel advising the Exmoor National Park Authority on the allocation of its
Sustainability Development Fund.
